The HIV Counseling and Testing Coalition (HCAT) at UCLA is a student-led organization dedicated to providing free, confidential rapid HIV testing to both the UCLA community and communities disproportionately affected by HIV across Los Angeles. We are grounded in a commitment to health equity and approach our work with a deep understanding of the social and structural determinants that shape HIV outcomes.
HCAT trains student counselors in trauma-informed practices to ensure that every testing experience is not only personalized, but also rooted in empathy and respect. Our team provides HIV education, as well as linkage to further harm-reduction and HIV-related services when needed. By partnering with other student organizations and community partners, we strive to reimagine what accessible, community-centered sexual health care can look like on and off campus.
